Today...on this perfect Hump Day Wednesday, I have a case of the coughs, chills and fever. That's not something I really want to be hacking up on air, so I decided to stay home. I will be back Monday as I will be gone for UNK Cross Country on Friday!
I'm just hoping I start feeling better :(

And...it's once again Monday...
I was pondering this question today..."Do you really have to have a college degree to be a radio personality or DJ"?
The answer in no....actually you don't. Of course if you have more experience in possibly working for a college radio station that would put you ahead of others applying, but a degree is not the main thing they look at when hiring for the station. This is what I found is the most important thing according to http://www.voiceartistes.com/article7.html.
"Anchoring or Radio Jockeying depends on how you deliver, your originality, the punch in your content, your style, your personality, how you present your programme and further how you connect with your audience. An RJ should have good communication powers and language skills. Never the less, RJ courses do help to develop your confidence or bring out your personality or inbuilt caliber in hiding but are not a necessity Many of the RJ's today have never gone through any course and have a good name today. RJ hunts or talent search are often conducted by FM channels to bring out original unique talent."
P.s. RJ (Radio Jockey)
So...take that for what it's worth...

FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY! Just one more....FRIDAY!
IT'S THE FRIDAY MORNING PARTY! Today I'm going to talk about how important it is to use a good voice on the radio, because I don't know if anybody has ever noticed to me but a high squeaky voice is not very attractive sounding on the radio. This sounds a little weird, but you kind of have to have a "sexy" voice for people to want to listen to you...Here it goes!
1. You must be original and have you own style.
2. SLOW DOWN! Think about what your saying before you have a case of the word vomit.
3. Your other voice performance or qualities like mimicry, local dialects and comedy or humour items helps to carry on the show.
4. Provide variations and modulation in your voice
5. You should be fluent but not monotonous as this may create boredom in your audience monotone is a surefire way of losing your audience.
And that is what makes you have a good radio voice :) Carry on my friends...

Halloween Happenings!!
Halloween is getting near and I'm getting very excited! We have this music bed we always play for Halloween stuff going on and it gets me super pumped about it :)
The more and more I listen to Becci, the more I realize how talented at radio she is. She has the perfect voice for it and sounds very natural on the radio. I think she really understands the concept of being a good radio personality. What are good qualities of an on air radio personality? Here are my top 5!
1. Must have a dynamic personality
2. Be able to think on your feet
3. Know how to operate a sound board and other industry equipment
4. Stay updated on current events
5. Be willing to adjust to a format

Is the sleep deprivation catching up to me yet?
O Monday...How I hate you. Haha...today was a typical Monday. We kicked off some new promotions though! The newest one is to tie in with Black Friday. We are giving away a brand new washer and dryer set! I mean, if I could be in the drawing I'd definitely be all over that!
As I'm getting more experience on the radio, I am starting to learn how to be more comfortable talking and having more of a conversation with Becci and Scott rather than reading from a script. One thing that I really need to work on is slowing down. Sometimes I'l listen to my voice tracks and I'm just thinking, "jeeeeshhh! I am going 100 mph!" I just have the tendacy to talk fast when I'm reading off of a paper.
Other than that, it was pretty much the typical Monday like we always have! Peace <3

Friday already?!
Today was a blasty blast on the radio. It was just me and Becci, so actually It went by a little bit faster than usual because I actually had stuff to do instead of just sitting there and chiming in every 2 seconds.
She showed me how to do phone call recordings and how to fill out the topic of the day surveys, which is stuff I have actually been curious about. I really enjoy working with Becci. We kind of similar personalities so I think we just work well together on air.
We even had people call in and tell us how they enjoyed listening to us and they thought we were funny. I think that in order to have a successful show you have to have people who actually like each other and are friends to make it good because then you can crack each other shit without pissing anybody off. It was a good Friday to say the least :) Catch ya later!

Back to reality...
And the adventure ends...back to school and back to reality...which means back to waking up at the butt crack of dawn.
It's crazy how just not being here for a little while can really throw off my game. To say the least, I have had much better days on the radio haha...and Scott was not in the best mood today.
I guess I'm just one of those people who really like to get things done right then and there. We were giving away tickets today and I asked Scott where the tickets were...ya ummm...not the best idea! I had to make myself not cry haha
But moral of the story...being yelled at is just part of the game...and I guess it's good experience so I learn how to hold my composure together.
